Taking Prayer Seriously

Something the Lord has been laying on my heart recently is taking prayer seriously. The thought hit me the other day how we use the phrase, "I'll be praying for you!" or "I'll send up a quick prayer for you!" as "Good Luck!" or well wishes and we don't even pray at all. A lot of the times that we say this, we don't even intend to pray because these phrases have become so ingrained into our vocabulary. If we tell someone we will be praying for them, we need to keep our promise and actually pray for them. Using "prayer" as a well wisher almost seems rude when we look at what prayer truly is. Prayer is communication with our Heavenly Father, not just a well wish or good luck. Prayer is given to us by God and should be used as it has been intended to be used.

I will be doing my best to cut out the phrase, "I'll be praying for you!" as a "Good Luck" and when I tell someone that I will be praying for them, that I will actually go before the Lord in prayer and ask His help for what I have promised my friend.
