Dedication

I have to admit, this is the topic that I've wanted to write about for a long time. And. Here. It. Is!

Do y'all remember when we were young? Like back in the '90s? It seemed like churches and camps were pushing. . .pushing. . .pushing for kids to take a step in their walk with the Lord and to dedicate their lives to the Lord? What happened to that? Why does it seem like it's rarely happening?

To be honest, I don't know. There isn't the same push that is being made that their use to be. It seems like people don't care about dedicating themselves to their Savior. In essence, it's like: Thanks for fire insurance! Now to live my own life.

That's ridiculous. Honestly.
I want to share something about one of my good friends here at BJU. He's in my society and he is a Pastoral Studies major. I popped into his room last week to let him borrow a book and as soon as he could, he changed the topic to what he was obviously overjoyed about. He, on his own accord, had dedicated his life to the Lord. Officially.
He wrote this as his dedication statement

I, (name), on January twenty-eighth, two-thousand and twelve, hereby dedicate my life to the work and service of Jesus Christ. I fully realize that his will means sacrificing many of my wordly pleasures, and I choose the straight and narrow path. May my friends, my family, and my God help me in life-long endeavor to serve and honor my King, Creator, and Friend. With ALL that is in me, my life is now yours, Lord. Take it. Use it for Thy will. Amen.

Does that give you goose bumps? It surely gives me goosebumps. He made me think deeply back when I dedicated my life to the Lord back on March 7, 2008. It always made me wonder who will step up and dedicate their life to God.

Reader:
Will you?
